Civic Duties

In my own views I feel that my civic duties as an emerging adult are going to become part o my life. Like for example paying my taxes to the federal government every year is going to be costly. Another of one of my civic duties that I’m going to have as I emerge as an adult will be to vote, whether it is to vote for the next major of my city who will make the city laws, to who will be the next governor of California who will create the state laws. And vote who will represent our state in congress by voting the person I want to be senator. And even vote for which person will be the next president of the United States of America and represent our country in world events where other world leaders would be. Another civic duty that I will have would be is to support our troops during a war, even if I don’t support the war. Also what I would owe to the community is to be a good citizen to others, and to follow the community rules and laws. And as I emerge as an adult I would owe the state and nation, to pay my taxes and use my civic duties to vote on laws, propositions that will influence this state and nation. Another thing that I would owe the state and nation is to vote for the next or current senators, majors, governors, and even the president of the United States of America who will influence this state and nation for years to come. I am also interested in contributing my services to the nation by probably joining one of the branches of the army.

Compulsory Service

In my own personal opinion I do not believe .hat 18 year olds should serve 2 years of compulsory service, such as the military or the Peace Corps. I believe that 18 year olds should have the choice to serve 2 years of compulsory service. My reasons are because 18 years should not be forced to serve if they don’t want to. Only 18 year olds who want to serve in the military or Peace Corps should serve. But if young adults don’t want to then they shouldn’t have to do it. Because this is the United States of America, were everyone has their choice to do whatever they want that is legal. For example, joining an organization like a union for experienced workers, or a club for men with mustaches, or any other type of organization. Another reason why I think this is because this isn’t the 1900’s where when a person becomes 18 they have to serve in the military against their chose, and if they didn’t do their service they would be punished under law. These days 18 year olds should have the choice to join the military or Peace Corps. That is why I myself should have the choice to join the military or Peace Corps when I turn 18 years old, I shouldn’t be forced against my own will. Besides I have been deciding whether to join the military when I graduate this year from my high school, but the probability is that I am just going to go to a community college and transfer a year or two later to a university or college. So that’s my opinion whether 18 year olds should join the military or peace corps as a requirement.

Voting Counts

Voting is one of the most important things people can do as a citizen of the United States of America. And if one of my friends wouldn’t want to vote for some reason that they have I would try and convince them. I would tell them “what’s wrong with you, you have the privilege to create history” “and you’re going to waste it by not voting”. You can use this privilege that you have to choose your governors, who can represent your state and control what goes on with your state for a few years. I would also tell them that they can vote to choose which person they would want to become their mayor for their town or city. They can even vote for the man or woman to represent them in congress by voting for which person to become a senator of their state. Also, that they can choose the person who gets to have the highest ranked office in our country this is being the president. And that the person that they voted for to become president would represent our country during world events like the G8 or G20 and to change or create laws that they see in their own views. And that they can choose on which laws can get passed in their state. If my friend wouldn’t vote I would also tell him then that they shouldn’t complain on the consequences that they don’t vote for the propositions that would be put on the ballot. Like if should animals that are going to be turned to food like chickens, should be caged in small cages or large ones. And if these animals should be free ranged or caged at all. That is what I would tell my friend if they decided not to vote, just because they didn’t want to.

Health Care

In my own opinion health care should be a right for the people. The reason is that there shouldn’t be a problem for a person to go the hospital whether they are sick or hurt and be rejected by a doctor just because they couldn’t afford health care. Then they would have to go to the emergency room, just so they can get themselves checked on their problem. People should be able to just go to the hospital without going to the emergency room they can get help. Then once they are checked and see that they have to be at the hospital for a period of time they shouldn’t be kicked out for the lack of those people having health care. Another reason that health care should be a right is because could be healthy without there being a problem. Since that everyone in the US is paying for the health care everyone should be able to get health care. And since everyone is paying for the health care, health care could in fact become a right of the people instead of health care being a privilege for people that can pay for it and others that can’t afford can just take care of themselves. So health care should be a right for the people instead of a privileged, so that no person can be rejected by the hospital or doctor if they are hurt somehow. So that is why in my own personal opinion for health care, is that it should be a right and not a privileged

ESLRS: Problem Solver

One example that I am a problem solver would be in 11th grade in my marine science class where I learned about the ocean and the types of animals that lived in it. In this class I learned to become a problem solver by learning the earth’s interior which are the continental crust which is composed mostly of granite, the other layer would be the oceanic crust which is mostly made of basalt, the mantle which is composed of silicon, oxygen, iron, and magnesium, and the last layer the core which is composed of iron. I would also learn about algae and sea grass, and I would also learn about invertebrates like phylum cnidaria, which are jellyfish, sea anemones, and coral. My second example of me being a problem solver would be in my 11th grade chemistry class was I had to learn about many theories and chemical equations. I also had to learn about the periodic table of elements and all of the symbols and letters that represented each element like element Au is gold. I also had to learn which metal was in which elemental group like Ag which is silver is in the transition metals and magnesium is an alkaline earth metal. In chemistry I also had to work on class experiment where for one example I had to turn a penny into a gold colored metal. And another experiment where I had to with pieces of fruit and I had to test each pice of fruit to figure out what fruit is what type of food.

ESLRs: Effective Communicator

In my four year high school career I have been an effective communicator for a few examples. The first example would be in my Peer counseling class during the 2nd semester of my 12th year. I was put in a group of 4 people and our assignment was to teach a class of freshmen and sophomores about bullying and its consequences of it. The group and I would each work on a separate part of the work and we made sure no one would work on the same thing by communicating with each other. When I would finish my assignments I would check on my group members and see how they would be doing and how far they are to finish their part of the work. I would also try to help each of my group members finish with any of their work if they had trouble finishing it. So in the result of our effective communication we received our highest grade we got for that type of work in that class. My second example of being an effective communicator would be all of my four years of my high school career by communicating with my teachers on work I didn’t understand and needed help on, so that I wouldn’t have to receive an F in class. Like when I was in my math class in 11th grade, I was on the brink of getting my first F in 5 years, but I communicated with my teacher and got the help I needed and at the end of the semester I received a C in that class. So those are the examples that I was an effective communicator during my four year high school career.

ESLRs: Technology Producer

During my 4 year high school career I have been a Technology Producer in only a few occasions. The first example would be when I had a TSS class in my 11th grade. In that class we had to learn all of the parts in the hard drive from the serial communications header to the socket connector and from the northern chip set to the southern chipset. We had to memorize and correctly identify each part for a quiz grade. In that same class we also had to figure out where all the cables are suppose to be connected, like the ribbon cables. Another one would be what cables go with the master/slave drive. We also had to learn where to insert the ram and memory, and which motherboard goes with which type of computer. My second example would be in my web designs class that I had this year in my 12th year, in my 1st and 2nd semesters. In this class we had to design websites just like how the name of the class is called. So we had to design websites from scratch individually, and sometimes in partners or groups. We had to use different types of programs to create our own original work like adobe flash, where we would create our own videos or shows. We also used adobe Dreamweaver that we used to create our websites from scratch, using tables to outline our websites and choosing our desired colors and designs. We would also use adobe Photoshop so that we could edit and create some pictures and art work that we created during this class. So those are my examples of me being a technology producer during my high school career.

ESLRs: Collaborative Worker

In my high school career I have been a collaborative worker for a few reasons. One example would be in my second semester this year, in my peer counseling class. I was put in a group to teach high school freshmen and sophomores about a specific subject. We would assign a task to each of the members of our group, so that we each would have a part in the group work. Whatever I was given in this group I would finish it, whether it was a little work or a lot. Then when it was time to present our work we received our 2nd highest grade that we got in that class. The second example that I was a collaborative worker in my high school career would be in my first semester in my Int Green Tech class, this time I was put in a 6 team group, we were assigned to remove the batteries from a electric cart, me and a 3 others would remove all six of the batteries from the cart which each one weight about 30-40 pounds. It took us a while since the batteries where put in enclosed spaces and since they were pretty heavy to remove out of place. Then after we finished we were supposed to check each batteries power level, after we checked each one we started to recharge the ones that needed it, which would have been all of them. But I took notice that some batteries would lose power after we recharged them, we discovered that some batteries didn’t work anymore. So by the time we finished recharging them and replacing a few of them, we got to fix the cart so that it would work again. So those are my examples of being a collaborative worker during my high school career.

ESLRs: Resposible Learner

During my 4 year high school I have been a responsible learner. One of the reasons that I have been a responsible learner is that I have not failed a single class in the four years of my high school career. Since 9th grade through 12th I have not gotten an F in my report card. Who knows I might get one in my final semesters in school, but I highly doubt that possibility. The lowest grade I have ever gotten in my report card for high school was a “D” in math class. That grade really surprise me since math was my strong subject in 8th grade. Some people might think that how could I have gotten a “D” in my report card if there aren’t any D’s allowed, well the answer would be that I was out of district in my 9th grade year. So for the rest of my high school career I only got A’s, B’s, and some C’s, but never an F. Another reason why I have been a responsible learner in my high school career is that I have never gotten in trouble with the school or its staff. I have never been sent to the office for causing trouble, and I have defiantly never been sent to the principal’s office for bad behavior. In high school I have respected my teachers and fellow students. I have followed the rules from not being constantly late or tardy, to not getting into fights with other students in my or any other schools on campus. These are only a few reasons that prove that I have been a responsible learner in my 4 year high school career.
